WHO WE ARE

Home cooks are our heroes—it’s as simple as that. Tipstor® is a community built by and for kitchen experts: The cooks who will dedicate the weekend to a perfect beef bourguignon but love the simplicity of a slow-cooker rendition, too. The bakers who labor over a show-stopping 9-layer cake but will just as happily doctor boxed brownies for a decadent weeknight dessert. The entertainers who just want a solid snack spread, without tons of dirty dishes at the end of the night.

Most importantly, Tipstor® connects home cooks with their greatest sources of inspiration — other home cooks. We’re the world’s leading digital food brand, and that inspires us to do everything possible to keep our community connected. Sixty-million home cooks deserve no less.

OUR STORY

Ah, the joy of cooking. It’s a magical journey that I embarked upon during the dreaded Covid sequestration. With all the time on my hands and my ever-restless mind, I decided to channel my inner chef and see if I could satisfy my insatiable appetite for distraction – thanks to good old ADD. Little did I know that this culinary adventure would become a delightful escape from the monotony of quarantine life.

In the beginning, my relationship with cooking was as chaotic as my thoughts on a slow Monday morning. I had no clue what I was doing, and my attempts at following recipes often resulted in disasters that could rival a reality TV cooking show. Burnt biscuits? Check. Over-seasoned pasta? Double check. But hey, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was my culinary prowess.

As I stumbled through the kitchen, armed with pots and pans like a clumsy knight with a rusty sword, something unexpected happened – I started having fun. The sizzle of onions hitting a hot pan, the aroma of garlic filling the air, and the satisfaction of creating something delicious from scratch became my own personal therapy session. Who needs a shrink when you have a whisk?

Cooking allowed me to focus on one thing at a time, which is quite the accomplishment for someone with the attention span of a goldfish. Chopping vegetables became my version of meditation – a moment of Zen amidst the chaos of quarantine. And let’s not forget about the glorious symphony of flavors that danced on my taste buds with every successful dish. It was like an orchestra playing a culinary concerto in my mouth.

Sure, there were moments when my ADD kicked in and led to some interesting experiments in the kitchen. Who knew that adding cinnamon instead of oregano to spaghetti sauce could result in such an unusual flavor combination? Let’s just say it was an acquired taste that only the bravest souls could appreciate. But hey, cooking is all about taking risks, right? And in those moments of culinary chaos, I discovered that even my failures were deliciously entertaining.

As the days turned into weeks and then months, my once chaotic kitchen became a haven of creativity and comfort. I found solace in experimenting with new recipes, tweaking old favorites, and even inventing dishes that would make Gordon Ramsay raise an eyebrow (in a good way, of course). Cooking became my secret weapon against boredom and restlessness – a way to keep my mind engaged while satisfying my insatiable appetite for distraction.

So, in the midst of this pandemic-induced sequestration, I found joy in the most unexpected place – the kitchen. Cooking became more than just a means to satisfy hunger; it became a form of therapy, a creative outlet, and a way to indulge my wandering mind. And who knows? Maybe one day I’ll become a master chef and open my own restaurant. Until then, I’ll continue to whip up culinary masterpieces while keeping my ADD happily fed.

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION

Tipstor® is and always has been a community built around love. We are people who love food, love to cook, and love to share recipes and stories. There is no room for hate, racism, or inequality in our community. The 60 million cooks who make up the Allrecipes audience are extraordinarily diverse. We strive to celebrate the home cooks who bring Allrecipes to life, featuring them on the website and in the pages of Tipstor® magazine.

We are committed to the goal of having contributors, featured cooks, featured recipes, and stories reflect the diversity of the Tipstor® community in our digital properties and in the magazine—and know that we still have much work to do.

We are working to highlight more of the stories and traditions of our diverse audience. In 2022, we are reviewing and editing content representing 20 percent of our traffic, with the goal of removing any bias in language and instances of cultural appropriation, including language around race, gender, sexual orientation, and glamorized colonialism.

We are also focused on recruiting more diverse voices and diverse contributors to our staff, our freelance pool, and our Tipstor® Pro (Tipstors) brand ambassador program. And we are working to ensure that our video and voice programming features the same diversity as our audience.

We are dedicated to working with recipe developers, food writers, editors, food stylists, photographers, videographers, podcasters, illustrators, and models who reflect the strength and diversity of our community.
